Provide 10,000 Journals

Over the years, PLUS ME has continued to refine our programs and develop new strategies to better serve LA youth. Our My Story Matters Journals have proved an incredible and flexible tool to help youth understand the elements that make up a story and reflect on life experiences to develop their own personal narrative. On this Road To A Million, we are providing 10,000 journals to students across Los Angeles.

Why It Matters

Winner of the 2019 UCLA Social Enterprise Academy Grand Prize Award, My Story Matters Journals are an accessible tool for sharing the power of story to students and adults alike. They include prompts to encourage students to connect personally with each story element, narrative-building tools like a story mountain, and inspirational quotes.

We designed the journal to support students through their college personal statement writing experience by posing questions that get to the heart of what most colleges ask from students when they apply. The PLUS ME curriculum coupled with our My Story Matters Journals create a space for self-reflection, connection, and confidence.

This self-guided journal is also available in Spanish!

How We Will Achieve It

Journals are a key component in our Storytelling, Writers, and Achievers workshops.

We are on track to provide 10,000 journals through a combination of scheduled workshops and projected journal sales (or donations!) from community members like you.
