Welcome To The PLUS ME Storytelling Center
The PLUS ME Storytelling Center activates the art of personal storytelling through public programs and events that encourages social connection, community building, and self-confidence.
These offerings will evolve over the course of the year with at least one public event scheduled each month.
PLUS ME Storytelling Center programs are made possible in part by the California Arts Council.
What’s Happening At The Center
Youth Storytelling Workshops
Your Story Matters is a workshop where a PLUS ME facilitator guides youth through personal storytelling activities that stem from the curriculum programs we have been conducting in classrooms across the city for the last decade. These activities include self-reflective journaling, anonymous gallery walk reflections, and facilitated conversations. All students receive a copy of PLUS ME’s My Story Matters Journal which was developed as an introspective, story-building tool and won UCLA’s 2019 Social Enterprise Venture Competition.
Adult Storytelling Workshops
How To Build A Storytelling Culture guides participants through PLUS ME’s six-step framework on how to build an inclusive storytelling environment where all stories are heard, valued, and celebrated. This will provide more information and tools to interested adults so that they can learn how to build stronger rapport with their students, children, neighbors, or colleagues through personal storytelling.
