PLUS ME Storytelling Center

The PLUS ME Storytelling Center activates the art of personal storytelling through public programs and events that encourage social connection, community building, and self-confidence.

What’s Happening At The Center

Youth Storytelling Workshops

PLUS ME facilitators guide youth through personal storytelling activities that stem from the curriculum programs we have been conducting in classrooms across the city for the last decade. These activities include self-reflective journaling, anonymous gallery walk reflections, and facilitated conversations. All students receive a copy of PLUS ME’s My Story Matters Journal which was developed as an introspective, story-building tool and won UCLA’s 2019 Social Enterprise Venture Competition.

Adult Storytelling Workshops

Here we guide participants through PLUS ME’s six-step framework on how to build an inclusive storytelling environment where all stories are heard, valued, and celebrated. This provides more information and tools to interested adults so that they can learn how to build stronger rapport with their students, children, neighbors, or colleagues through personal storytelling.

Discover the Power of Personal Stories

Join us for an inspiring evening of storytelling at "A Night of Stories: A Promise Fulfilled." This special event invites you to explore the transformative power of personal narratives and the impact of redefining labels.

Event Highlights:

  • Community Role Models: Hear from individuals who have turned challenges into opportunities.

  • Beyond Labels: For too long, terms like "at-risk" have limited potential. In 2020, California replaced it with "at-promise"—a shift in perspective that we will delve into through real stories.

  • Themes of Resilience and Identity: Engage in conversations that explore how taking control of our narratives can reshape identity and inspire growth.

Why Attend?

  • Challenge Perspectives: Experience stories that will broaden your understanding of identity and resilience.

  • Inspire Reflection: Learn from those who have transcended societal labels and redefined success on their own terms.

  • Celebrate Storytelling: Join a community that values the art of storytelling as a tool for change and empowerment.

Join us for an enlightening and empowering night, celebrating personal stories and potential.
